Heart surgery fluid strategy aims to shield kidneys

Summary

This study looks at whether using a special fluid management approach (ACUMEN) during heart surgery can help prevent kidney damage. About 100 adults having heart bypass or valve surgery will take part. Researchers will measure kidney injury using blood and urine tests, and track how much fluid patients receive and their recovery in the ICU.
