Major trial aims to shorten the search for effective mental health treatment
NCT ID NCT05603104
Summary
This large study is testing if using stronger, third-line psychiatric medications right after a first treatment fails works better than the standard second-step approach. It involves over 1,200 adults with schizophrenia, major depression, or bipolar depression who did not get better on their first medication. The goal is to see if this 'early-intensified' strategy reduces symptoms faster and improves quality of life.
