Could an earlier start to breathing help extend life for ALS patients?

NCT ID NCT07071935

Summary

This study is testing if starting a breathing machine, called non-invasive ventilation (NIV), earlier than the current standard can help people with ALS. Researchers will use a prediction tool to identify patients at higher risk for breathing problems and randomly assign them to start NIV early or follow the usual care timeline. The goal is to gather data to see if early use improves quality of life, breathing, and survival, and to plan a larger future trial.
