New study tests virtual care team to tackle stubborn high blood pressure

NCT ID NCT06899750

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether a team of a remote pharmacist, social worker, and nurse, working with patients through a phone app, can help African American and Latinx adults with uncontrolled high blood pressure lower their numbers. Two hundred participants will either get this team-based support or mailed educational materials. The main goal is to see if more people drop their systolic blood pressure by at least 10 points after six months.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
E3 Multidisciplinary Team (remote pharmacist, social worker, nurse) plus a hypertension phone app
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a practical, team-based model to help more people with hard-to-control hypertension lower their blood pressure and reduce health risks.
What could go wrong
This is a relatively small, early-stage behavioral study (200 participants) focused on a specific population, so results may not apply broadly. Success depends on participants consistently using the app and following recommendations.
