Can vaping help break a deadly habit? trial tests E-Cigs for smokers in opioid recovery

Summary

This study aims to see if providing free e-cigarettes is more effective than counseling and nicotine patches at helping people who smoke and have opioid use disorder reduce their cigarette smoking. It will enroll 302 adults who are in treatment programs for opioid use and smoke at least 5 cigarettes a day. The goal is to find a better way to reduce the health harms from smoking in this high-risk group.
