New MRI scan could cut unnecessary breast biopsies
NCT ID NCT04491864
First seen Jan 26, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 16 times
Summary
This study tested whether a special MRI technique called DWIBS can better identify suspicious breast lesions found on mammograms and ultrasounds. Researchers aimed to see if it could tell cancerous from non-cancerous growths and possibly reduce false alarms that lead to unnecessary biopsies. The study included 11 women over 30 with suspicious breast findings, but it was terminated early, so results are limited.
