Immunotherapy shows promise as first defense against advanced lung cancer

Summary
This study tests whether the immunotherapy drug durvalumab works better than standard chemotherapy as the first treatment for people with advanced non-small cell lung cancer that has high levels of a protein called PD-L1. About 669 adults with stage IV lung cancer, who have not had prior chemotherapy, will receive either durvalumab or platinum-based chemo. The main goal is to see if durvalumab helps people live longer.
