Heart attack drug duration debate: shorter may be safer
NCT ID NCT03252249
First seen Feb 01, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 14 times
Summary
This study looked at how long people who had a heart attack should take two blood thinners (aspirin plus another drug) to prevent future heart problems. Taking them longer can lower the risk of clots but raises the chance of dangerous bleeding. The trial tracked over 5,000 patients using health records to find the best balance. Results help doctors decide the safest treatment length.
