New study checks if popular eye drops really soothe dry eyes
NCT ID NCT07540884
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study is testing two versions of Tears Naturale lubricating eye drops—one with preservatives and one without—in 120 people with mild to moderate dry eye disease. Participants will stop using their usual artificial tears and use only the study drops for the duration of the trial. The main goal is to see if the drops reduce how much dry eye symptoms bother people in daily life.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- lubricating eye drops (dextran 70 and hypromellose)
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this study could confirm that these eye drops safely relieve dry eye symptoms in everyday use.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, post-market study, not a large trial. The drops are already available, so the results may not show major new benefits. Some people may still experience irritation.
