MS drug interaction study: will common meds change tolebrutinib levels?

NCT ID NCT06064539

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026

Summary

This completed Phase 1 study tested how two common drugs—gemfibrozil (for cholesterol) and rifampicin (an antibiotic)—affect the levels of tolebrutinib, an experimental oral drug for multiple sclerosis. Thirty healthy men aged 18 to 45 took tolebrutinib alone and then with each other drug. The goal was to see if these interactions require dose adjustments, not to test tolebrutinib's effectiveness or safety in MS patients.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Tolebrutinib (SAR442168)

What this could lead to

If successful, this study could help doctors understand how to adjust tolebrutinib dosing when taken with other common drugs.

What could go wrong

This is a very early, small study in healthy volunteers, not people with MS. It only looks at drug levels, not whether the drug works or is safe long-term.
