New stent could save limbs in critical leg artery disease
NCT ID NCT06122974
First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 21 times
Summary
This study compares a new drug-coated temporary stent system to standard balloon angioplasty for people with critical limb ischemia, a severe form of peripheral artery disease that can lead to amputation. About 518 participants will receive one of the two treatments to see which better restores blood flow and prevents major complications like amputation or repeat procedures. The goal is to improve limb survival and artery patency without long-term medication.
