Brain chemical boost tested to lift fog of Late-Life depression
NCT ID NCT04469959
Summary
This study is testing if a medication that increases dopamine, a key brain chemical, can help older adults with depression who also experience slowed thinking and movement. Researchers will give participants either the medication (L-DOPA) or a placebo for short periods to see if it improves their mood, mental speed, and walking. The goal is to understand if targeting dopamine circuits offers a new way to manage this hard-to-treat condition.
