First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study looked at whether a common jaw joint disorder (anterior disc displacement with reduction) affects pain after root canal treatment. 70 adults with tooth infection and jaw pain were treated and tracked their pain for a week. The goal is to see if dentists should consider jaw health when planning root canals.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to

If successful, this could help dentists predict which patients might have more pain after root canal and offer better pain management.

What could go wrong

This is a small, completed study with only 70 people. Results may not apply to everyone, and it does not test a new treatment.
