New tooth filling may ease root canal pain
NCT ID NCT07585721
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether a newer bioceramic filling material reduces pain after root canal treatment better than the standard calcium hydroxide filling. Twenty-eight adults with painful lower molar infections will receive one of the two fillings during their root canal. Pain levels and a pain-related chemical in the tooth will be measured over a week to see which works better.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Bioceramic intracanal medicament (Bio-C Temp) and calcium hydroxide (Meta paste)
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could point toward a better way to manage pain after root canal treatment, potentially reducing discomfort for patients.
- What could go wrong
- This is a very small, early-stage trial with only 28 participants, so results may not apply widely. It compares two existing treatments, so no major breakthrough is expected.
