Could a lower steroid dose plus exercise slow Duchenne's progression?
NCT ID NCT04322357
First seen Mar 20, 2026 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 7 times
Summary
This study looked at whether giving steroids twice a week (instead of daily) and adding exercise training could help boys with Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) keep their muscle strength longer. The goal was to find a way to reduce side effects from daily steroids while still slowing the disease. Twenty-one boys aged 5 to 9 took part, and researchers measured changes in body mass index and muscle function over one year.
