First seen Nov 20, 2025 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 25 times

Summary

This study looks at how the autonomic nervous system (which controls heart rate and blood pressure) works in people with Down syndrome. Researchers will measure heart rate, blood pressure, and stress hormones during activities like cold water, fear simulations, exercise, and caffeine. The goal is to understand why people with Down syndrome often have a lower heart rate during exercise, which may affect their physical ability and quality of life. About 200 participants (with and without Down syndrome) will take part.
