First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether a digital screening and brief intervention can help postpartum mothers reduce substance use. About 120 mothers enrolled in home visiting programs will complete online sessions and receive text messages. Researchers want to see which combination of digital tools works best and what helps or hinders success.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
digital screening and brief intervention (e-SBI sessions and text messaging)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could point toward an effective digital tool to help new mothers reduce substance use.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study (120 participants) focused on feasibility and component testing, not a large efficacy trial. Results may not generalize beyond the specific home visiting program.
