First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests a new digital scope (SpyGlass DS) to help doctors tell cancerous from non-cancerous narrowings in the bile duct. About 40 adults with bile duct strictures will undergo the procedure during a standard ERCP exam. The goal is to see if the digital scope improves diagnosis accuracy compared to older methods.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

SpyGlass DS Cholangioscopy device

What this could lead to

If successful, this could give doctors a more accurate way to diagnose bile duct strictures without more invasive tests.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early study with only 40 people, so results may not apply to everyone. The device may not be better than current methods.
