Plant estrogens under scrutiny in lupus study

NCT ID NCT03421184

First seen May 22, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026

Summary

This study looked at whether natural plant estrogens (phytoestrogens) in food might be a risk factor for lupus flares. Researchers measured phytoestrogen levels in blood and urine of 63 premenopausal women with active lupus, other autoimmune diseases, or healthy controls. The goal was to understand if these dietary compounds are linked to disease activity, not to test a treatment.
