Could a 4-Day shake diet save your vein graft?

NCT ID NCT05457881

Summary

This study aimed to see if a 4-day low-calorie, low-protein 'shake' diet before leg bypass surgery could help prevent vein grafts from failing. Researchers wanted to test if patients could follow this diet at home and if it boosted the body's natural production of hydrogen sulfide, a gas thought to protect blood vessels. The trial was designed for 226 adults having planned surgery but was withdrawn before any participants enrolled.
