First seen Jan 06, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 28 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a Mediterranean diet can improve arthritis in children by changing the bacteria in their guts. Fifty-four kids with juvenile idiopathic arthritis will follow the diet for 8 weeks, with an option to continue for 4 more weeks. Researchers will collect stool and blood samples, along with diet and health questionnaires, to see if the diet reduces disease activity and alters the gut microbiome. This is a small feasibility study to help design a larger, more definitive trial.
