Special dialysis filter tested to fight deadly shock after heart stops
NCT ID NCT00780299
Summary
This study tested whether a special high-permeability dialysis filter could help patients in shock after their heart was restarted. The filter was designed to remove harmful inflammatory substances from the blood. Researchers compared adding this treatment to standard care to see if it could shorten the duration of shock and improve organ function in 38 critically ill patients.
