Massive study reveals which diabetes drug is best for your heart

NCT ID NCT05214573

Summary

This study analyzed health records of over 380,000 adults with type 2 diabetes to compare four common second-line medications. Researchers wanted to see which drug class—GLP-1RAs, SGLT2is, DPP-4is, or sulfonylureas—was most effective at preventing major heart problems like heart attacks and strokes in people at moderate risk. A unique part of the study also asked patients what treatment outcomes mattered most to them, aiming to make future care more patient-centered.
