Diabetes control linked to worse gum and tooth health in new study

NCT ID NCT07193979

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looked at 120 adults with type 2 diabetes and gum disease to see how well their blood sugar was controlled and how it related to the severity of gum problems and cavities. Researchers measured gum health, tooth decay, and HbA1c levels (a measure of blood sugar control). The goal was to better understand the connection between diabetes and oral health, not to test a new treatment.
