First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 23 times

Summary

This completed study looked at 120 adults with type 2 diabetes and gum disease to see how well their blood sugar was controlled and how it related to the severity of gum problems and cavities. Researchers grouped participants by HbA1c levels (a measure of blood sugar control) and compared their gum and tooth health. The goal was to better understand the connection between diabetes control and oral health, without providing any treatment.
