Scientists probe hidden link between diabetes and blood flow
NCT ID NCT05593549
Summary
This study aims to understand how a natural cellular cleanup process, called autophagy, affects the function of tiny blood vessels in people with Type 2 Diabetes. Researchers will compare 60 adults, some with diabetes and some healthy, by testing their blood vessel function before and after a 14-day period of taking either a supplement (trehalose) thought to boost this cleanup process or a placebo. The goal is to learn if improving cellular cleanup can help blood vessels work better in people with diabetes.
