NCT ID NCT06892678

First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether DFMO, a drug taken by mouth, can help prevent cancer from coming back in people with relapsed Ewing sarcoma or osteosarcoma who have finished all planned treatment and show no signs of disease. The trial will enroll 15 participants under age 40. The main goal is to see if giving DFMO as maintenance therapy is feasible and safe.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only โ€” not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
DFMO (difluoromethylornithine)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could provide a maintenance option to help keep relapsed sarcoma from coming back after standard treatment.
What could go wrong
This is a very small early-phase trial with only 15 participants, so results may not apply widely. DFMO may not prevent recurrence and could cause side effects.
