First seen Feb 20, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 11 times

Summary

This study compares two sedatives, dexmedetomidine and midazolam, in very premature babies (born before 32 weeks) who need a breathing tube. The goal is to see if dexmedetomidine helps them come off the ventilator faster, reducing lung damage. About 380 babies will take part across multiple hospitals.
