Children's heartburn drug trial halted early – but data may still help

Summary
This study tested a daily medicine called dexlansoprazole to heal and prevent return of erosive esophagitis (damage to the esophagus from stomach acid) in children aged 2 to 11 years. The trial was stopped early, but researchers aimed to see if the drug could heal the esophagus within 8 weeks and keep it healed for up to 24 weeks. Participants took the medicine or a placebo, and reported symptoms like heartburn and stomach pain.
