First seen Apr 04, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This study tested whether adding dexamethasone or dexmedetomidine to a nerve block (ESPB) could help control pain after total knee replacement. 90 adults having knee surgery took part. The main goal was to see which drug helped delay the first time a patient needed strong opioid pain medicine. The study is complete and in Phase 4, meaning the drugs are already approved for other uses.
