First seen Dec 18, 2025 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 19 times
Summary
This study tested whether injecting a steroid (dexamethasone) near the surgery site can reduce pain, swelling, and jaw stiffness after wisdom tooth removal. 70 adults aged 18-45 who needed a lower wisdom tooth removed took part. Half received the steroid injection and half received a placebo (salt water) injection. The goal was to see if this simple, low-cost approach helps people recover faster and return to daily activities sooner.
