First seen Dec 18, 2025 · Last updated Jun 14, 2026 · Updated 24 times
Summary
This study tested whether a single injection of dexamethasone (a steroid) into the gum after wisdom tooth removal can reduce pain, swelling, and jaw stiffness. Seventy adults who had an impacted lower wisdom tooth removed received either the steroid or a placebo (salt water) injection. The goal was to see if this simple, low-cost approach helps patients get back to their daily activities sooner.
