Burn breakthrough: common drug could save lives in critical first week

Summary
This study is testing whether giving a steroid called dexamethasone early after a severe burn can reduce life-threatening complications and death. It will involve 478 adults with major burns who are on breathing machines. Researchers want to see if controlling the body's extreme inflammatory response in the first 48 hours can prevent organ failure.
