AI listens for dementia: new study uses speech to spot brain disease
NCT ID NCT07200739
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Apr 25, 2026 · Updated 24 times
Summary
This study is testing whether an artificial intelligence (AI) model can detect signs of dementia and other cognitive problems by analyzing recordings of people's speech. Researchers will ask 340 Danish-speaking adults over age 50 to complete short memory and speech tasks. The AI will look for patterns in the recordings to tell apart healthy individuals from those with conditions like Alzheimer's, vascular dementia, or depression. The goal is to develop a simple, non-invasive tool that could help diagnose these diseases earlier.
