New vision screening could save eyesight for thousands of seniors

NCT ID NCT07015034

First seen May 02, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study is testing whether a simple vision screening done in a regular doctor's office can help find vision problems early in people over 70 who have at least one chronic condition like diabetes or high blood pressure. About 460 participants will be invited to take vision tests at their general practice and at an optometrist. The goal is to see if this approach is practical and acceptable, and whether it can catch eye diseases like glaucoma, cataracts, or macular degeneration before they cause serious vision loss.
