First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 23 times

Summary

This study looked at two methods to make gum tissue thicker around dental implants in the front of the mouth. 36 adults who needed a single tooth implant were randomly assigned to receive either a graft of their own connective tissue or a collagen matrix. The main goal was to see which approach led to thicker gum tissue over time, with secondary goals of checking appearance and complications.
