Summary
This study tested whether denosumab, a drug used for osteoporosis, can prevent the rapid bone loss that often happens after weight-loss surgery. It included 36 postmenopausal women and men aged 50 or older who were planning either gastric bypass or sleeve gastrectomy. Participants received denosumab or a placebo, and researchers measured changes in hip bone density over time.
