New hope for calming terminal cancer agitation
NCT ID NCT03021486
Summary
This study is testing different medication strategies to quickly calm severe, distressing agitation (delirium) in hospitalized patients with advanced cancer. It involves 70 patients whose initial low-dose medication hasn't worked. Researchers are comparing three approaches: increasing the dose of the first drug, switching to a second drug, or using both drugs together, to see which best reduces agitation and improves comfort within 24 hours.
