New scan cuts radiation for prostate cancer patients
NCT ID NCT07357259
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests a new way to do PET scans for men with high-risk prostate cancer. Instead of two full CT scans, it uses one CT plus a delayed PET-only image, which may lower radiation exposure. Researchers will check if the delayed images match the standard ones well enough. The goal is to make the scan safer and faster without losing diagnostic quality.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Gallium-68 PSMA radiotracer
What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to a safer, faster imaging protocol that reduces radiation exposure for men with high-risk prostate cancer.
What could go wrong
This is an early-stage imaging study, not a treatment trial. The delayed scan may not match standard images well enough, or the benefit may be small.
