Could a daytime nap replace an overnight stay for sleep apnea device tuning?
NCT ID NCT06559956
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 21, 2026 · Updated 31 times
Summary
This study looks at whether a daytime sleep test can work as well as an overnight one for adjusting the Inspire device, which treats obstructive sleep apnea. About 110 people who already have the Inspire implant will take part. The goal is to see if daytime testing is just as good at finding the right device settings, which could make the process more convenient.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Hypoglossal nerve stimulation (Inspire system)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could make it easier and faster to adjust Inspire device settings, reducing the need for overnight hospital stays.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study comparing two testing methods, not testing a new treatment. Daytime sleep may not fully mimic nighttime breathing patterns.
