Time-Restricted eating: a simple fix for better sleep and more movement?
NCT ID NCT07520786
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study looks at whether limiting food intake to an 8-hour window each day can improve sleep, physical activity, and reduce sitting time in college-aged women. Thirty-six female students at the University of Georgia will either follow this eating pattern or receive basic nutrition advice for three weeks. Their activity and sleep will be tracked with a wrist monitor to see if time-restricted eating makes a difference.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Time-restricted eating (8-hour daily eating window)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that time-restricted eating is a feasible way to improve daily activity patterns and sleep in young women.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study with only 36 participants, all college women, so results may not apply to other groups. Adherence to the eating window may be low.
