Plant extract shows promise in ovarian cancer maintenance trial
NCT ID NCT07495397
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether daphnetin capsules, made from a daphne plant extract, can improve outcomes when combined with standard chemotherapy (TC regimen) for stage III-IV epithelial ovarian cancer. About 98 participants who had initial surgery will receive the combination, then continue daphnetin with targeted therapy as maintenance. The goal is to see if this approach delays cancer progression.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
daphnetin capsules (from daphne plant extract)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could provide a new maintenance therapy option to help control advanced ovarian cancer after initial treatment.
What could go wrong
This is an early, single-arm trial with no control group, so results may not be conclusive. Side effects from the combination therapy are possible.
