Could a simple daily questionnaire tame PTSD flashbacks?
NCT ID NCT07658157
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether answering a short daily survey about a specific traumatic memory can reduce the intensity and frequency of intrusive PTSD symptoms. Fifty adults with PTSD will either complete surveys about their trauma memory or about a neutral memory for 10 days. Researchers will then compare changes in PTSD symptom severity between the two groups.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
daily ecological momentary assessment (EMA) surveys about a traumatic memory
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a simple, low-cost way to reduce intrusive PTSD symptoms without medication or intensive therapy.
What could go wrong
This is a small early-phase study with only 50 participants, so results may not apply broadly. The intervention is brief (10 days) and may not produce lasting change.
