Summary

This study tested whether adding a special gel called D-PLEX to standard care can prevent wound infections after colon surgery. About 202 people having elective colon surgery took part. Half got the gel plus standard care, and half got standard care alone. Researchers tracked infections and deaths for 30 days after surgery.
