Could a Cell-Cycle protein reveal how aggressive oral cancer is?
NCT ID NCT07778615
First seen Aug 21, 2026 ยท Last updated Aug 21, 2026
Summary
This study looks at tissue samples from 34 people with oral squamous cell carcinoma to measure levels of a protein called cyclin D1, which helps cells divide. The goal is to see whether higher cyclin D1 levels are linked to patient age, sex, tumor location, grade, or signs of invasion. If a link is found, cyclin D1 might one day help doctors predict how aggressive a tumor is.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Immunohistochemical analysis of cyclin D1 protein in tumor tissue samples
- What this could lead to
- If cyclin D1 levels correlate with aggressive tumor features, it could become a marker to help predict how oral cancer will behave.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, observational study, so any link found may not hold up in larger groups. It only looks at tissue samples, not treatments or outcomes.
