First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study compares a 9-week group cycling program (Cycle Nation) to a single training session to see which gets more adults cycling regularly. Participants are healthy adults who rarely cycle. The program includes skills training, group rides, and goal-setting. Researchers will measure cycling habits, health, and cost-effectiveness over 12 months.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

group-based cycling program

What this could lead to

If successful, this could show that a structured community cycling program is an effective and cost-effective way to get more people cycling regularly.

What could go wrong

This is a relatively small trial (268 participants) focused on healthy adults, so results may not apply to everyone. The intervention is behavioral, so long-term adherence is uncertain.
