Turmeric pill aims to shield cancer patients from harsh treatment side effects

NCT ID NCT07248020

Summary

This study is testing if a specially formulated turmeric extract (curcumin) can protect the bowels from severe inflammation and damage caused by radiation and chemotherapy in people with rectal cancer. The main goal is to see if taking the supplement during treatment lowers the risk of painful bowel side effects like severe diarrhea and bleeding. Researchers will also check if it helps the cancer respond better to treatment and will study how it works in the body.
