NCT ID NCT07278128
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tested whether taking curcumin (from turmeric) daily for 12 weeks could improve cholesterol, blood sugar, hormones, and liver health in women with both PCOS and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease. 74 women participated in a double-blind, placebo-controlled trial. The goal was to find a safer alternative to standard drugs.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
curcumin (turmeric extract)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a natural supplement to help manage PCOS and fatty liver disease together.
What could go wrong
This is a small, completed Phase 2/3 trial. Curcumin is poorly absorbed, and results may not apply to all women. It is not a cure.
