NCT ID NCT03276390

First seen Jul 02, 2026 · Last updated Jul 02, 2026

Summary

This study tests a program designed to increase living donor kidney transplants among Hispanic patients with end-stage renal disease. The program provides Spanish-language education and outreach by bicultural health workers. Researchers will compare transplant rates between Hispanic and non-Hispanic white patients at two transplant centers. The goal is to reduce long-standing disparities in access to kidney transplants.

Active substance

Hispanic Kidney Transplant Program (HKTP)

What this could lead to

If successful, this program could reduce racial disparities in kidney transplantation and help more Hispanic patients receive a living donor kidney.

What could go wrong

The program's impact may vary across centers, and cultural factors alone may not fully address the complex barriers to living donation.
