CT scan software could replace risky artery tests in pancreatic cancer surgery
NCT ID NCT07155616
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests a new computer tool that uses CT scans to predict how blood flow will change during major abdominal surgery for pancreatic cancer. Currently, doctors must use an invasive procedure called angiography to check blood flow, which carries risks. The tool aims to make surgery safer by helping surgeons plan which arteries to preserve. The study will enroll 100 people scheduled for pancreaticoduodenectomy and compare the software's predictions with actual blood flow measurements taken during surgery.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
blood flow measurement software
What this could lead to
If successful, this tool could help surgeons plan complex abdominal surgeries by predicting blood flow changes without invasive tests.
What could go wrong
This is an early-stage study with only 100 participants, so the software may not be accurate enough for widespread use yet.
