Freezing nerves during lung transplant could cut opioid use
NCT ID NCT07281118
First seen Jan 06, 2026 · Last updated May 02, 2026 · Updated 21 times
Summary
This study tests a new way to manage pain after a double lung transplant. Instead of relying mainly on strong painkillers like opioids, doctors will use a cold probe during surgery to numb the nerves near the incision. The goal is to see if this method lowers the need for opioids and helps people recover more comfortably. About 148 adults receiving a double lung transplant will take part.
