New Freeze-Heat device offers hope for breast cancer patients avoiding surgery
NCT ID NCT07238894
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study is testing a new device that first freezes and then heats breast tumors to destroy them. It is for patients who cannot have surgery due to health reasons or who choose not to. The goal is to see if this approach can control the cancer and prevent it from coming back, while avoiding the need for breast removal.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Combined Cryoablation and Thermal Ablation system (device that freezes and heats tumors)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could offer a non-surgical option to control breast cancer in patients who cannot undergo surgery, potentially avoiding the need for breast removal.
What could go wrong
This is an early-stage study with only 200 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The treatment might not fully eliminate the cancer, and there are risks like complications or recurrence.
